Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery refers to procedures where the chest is not opened, and all stages of the operation are performed through a 4-5 cm incision below the right breast of the patient, using video images. The advantages of this procedure include less bleeding, faster recovery, better cosmetic results, and greater precision during the operation.

This type of surgery, which is performed in a limited number of centers worldwide, was initiated in Shiraz by Dr. Amirghofran in 2007, and currently, this center is undoubtedly the most reputable center for performing minimally invasive operations in the country and the region.

Surgeries that can be performed minimally invasively include complex mitral valve repair (Complex MV Repair) or mitral valve replacement (MVR), tricuspid valve replacement (TVR), and closure of atrial septal defects (ASD) with or without pulmonary vein transposition (PAPVC).
